DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARGES
Our clients come to us with a wide variety of personal situations, from arguments that have spiralled out of control to long-standing family disputes. We work to find the best solutions for you and your family.
From possession to trafficking and grow ops, we handle charges involving a wide variety of controlled substances, including marijuana, cocaine and prescription drugs.
Youth & adults are treated very differently in the court system. If you or a family member has been charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, we can help you navigate the youth system and take advantage of the opportunities offered.
These involve both impaired driving and offences under the Highway Traffic Act. The HTA includes speeding, reckless driving, driving without a licence and traffic violations such as running red lights.
It can take months or years for your charge to get to trial. Wherever possible we ensure that those months are spent outside of jail, with as few restrictions on your liberty as possible.
Theft, robbery and other property-related crimes may involve challenging evidence issues. We will strategize on the most effective defence, which may involve getting serious weapons-related charges dropped in favour of a lesser charge.
These charges, which include Internet sex crimes, are particularly sensitive and difficult for many of our clients, and the long-term consequences of conviction may be more serious than expected.
Whether these involve weapons used in other crimes, such as theft or assault, or standalone charges involving owning unlicensed firearms, we will discuss your options and protect your rights.
MENTAL HEALTH & CAPACITY/CONSENT LAW
Our lawyer sits on the panel of the Consent and Capacity Board, and can help defend the right of clients to not be confined against their will for mental health reasons.
